Background

The Environmental Footprint (EF) methodology was developed by the European Commission to establish common rules for measuring and communicating the environmental performance of products, services, and organizations throughout their life cycle. The Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) and Organisation Environmental Footprint (OEF) methods were introduced in 2013 and have since been tested, evaluated, and further developed. The overall aim is to improve the availability of information on environmental performance and increase the range of environmentally adapted products and services on the market.

Our work with Environmental Footprint

The Swedish Life Cycle Center has followed and influenced the development of the European Commission’s Environmental Footprint initiative since its early stages. Together with our network, we have contributed knowledge and perspectives through a variety of projects and initiatives.
