Welcome to our new webinar series, Beyond Carbon, where we widen the perspective from greenhouse gas emissions to a broader set of environmental and social impacts. This is episode 3 where we focus on biodiversity.

Halting a rapid biodiversity loss, ensuring sustainable use including effective protection and rebuilding are all increasingly urgent. The decline in and even extinction of wildlife population is alarming, and structure and function of ecosystems are changing at rapid rate. A first step towards bending these curves is identification and understanding of different drivers and effects of available options.

Integrating biodiversity assessment into LCA is a growing trend, but how well are we doing at the moment? Are the methodological developments matching the urgency of reversing biodiversity loss?

The webinar contains a 30-minute presentation by researcher Sara Hornborg, covering topis such as relevance, hurdles and opportunities of assessing biodiversity in LCA, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A and discussions where you get to explore what the topicmeans in practice.

Presenter

Sara Hornborg works as a researcher at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. Her focus is on sustainability assessments of seafood, with focus on climate and biodiversity, both in fisheries and aquaculture.
