Innovation cluster for the life cycle perspective 2025-2027
The project provides a meeting place where industry, academia, research institutes, authorities, SMEs and other parts of society come together to create opportunities for an increased understanding and use of the life cycle perspective. The project aims to contribute to increased capacity building, competence development, exchange of experiences, knowledge transfer, collaboration, networking, and dissemination of information within the life cycle perspective among the involved actors, as well as to strengthen Sweden’s position in the field of life cycle thinking.
The project is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency and partners in Swedish Life Cycle Center together with SMEs in collaboration with the center and is managed by the Swedish Life Cycle Center.
Aim & Objectives
The aim of the project is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable and robust energy system by promoting the application of life cycle thinking. It will strengthen knowledge, skills, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among stakeholders, and enhance Sweden’s international position in the life cycle field through capacity building, strategic partnerships, and broad dissemination of results.
The project is a continuation of the project Innovation cluster for the life cycle perspective 2020-2024 which was run between June 2020 and May 2024, and was also financed by the Swedish Energy Agency and partners in Swedish Life Cycle Center.
Expected outcomes
The project is expected to lead to increased competence in life cycle thinking and life cycle assessment across industry, academia, government, and SMEs. It will result in improved methods, tools, and collaborations that support energy- and climate-smart innovations. The project will also enhance the integration of life cycle perspectives into decision-making, policy, and business development, while strengthening Sweden’s competitiveness and ability to meet national energy and climate goals.
The project will have many different activities for several different target groups in order to reach these goals and expected outcomes, e.g.
- Seminar, webinars and strategic business intelligence meetings for increase knowledge building
- Initiate and coordinate research projects to develop tools and contribute the methodology development
- Provide communication material and guidelines
