Merry Christmas & Happy New 2022!

Tuesday, 21 December, 2021

The year is coming to an end and so is the current stage of the Swedish Life Cycle Center’s operations (stage 9). The Technical secretariat together with all partners are now planning for a new stage of co-creation and mutual learning with a common goal towards our vision Credible & applied life cycle thinking globally.

To sum up the year, we want to highlight some activities and successes.

First, we would like to welcome Electrolux and Polestar Performance as new partners in the center. Electrolux and Polestar are important organizations in our journey towards our vision and mission. We had the opportunity to get to learn Electrolux already at the Network conference on October 20, and Polestar has been introduced to some of the center’s working groups.

We will also welcome Greg Peters, Scientific Director at the Swedish Life Cycle Center. This is a new position (10%), built on result from the Scientific Advisory Group. The aim of this position is to strengthen the Scientific quality of the center.

This year’s research has had a main focus on building understanding of rules and requirements of different frameworks for LCA calculations, participated in and impact the EU’s work with Product Environmental Footprint.

Furthermore, we have gathered our competences for a joint approach to an application to the Swedish Energy Agency about a new Centre of Excellence within the life cycle field. This joint effort has led to new collaborations and dialogues.

In October we held the course “Applied life cycle thinking” in English for the first time and the course was fully booked. We are now preparing for the next occasion in April that will be given online, in English.

We are happy to see that the collaboration within the Swedish Life Cycle Center has a ripple effect and new individual initiatives are taken for mutual learning between the partners. E.g., researchers within the academy group are discussing research and newly published journal articles and the authorities are collaborating in joint projects about LCA in policy and legislation.

To all of you, Merry Christmas and Happy New 2022!
