Thursday, 19 February, 2026
Life Cycle TalksJoin us for the next Life Cycle Talks with Stefano Zuin, Competence Area Lead of the Electrolux Group / Product Strategy, Innovation and Sustainability organization. In his upcoming talk, Stefano will talk about how LCA serves as a valuable method for organizations seeking to assess the environmental impacts of product portfolio and to comply with sustainability reporting by providing robust data and insights.

In anticipation of the talk, we spoke with Stefano Zuin to learn more about his work and the insights he will share.

Tell us a bit about your work and what you focus on!

“I’m a competence area lead for LCA with over 10 years’ experience in running LCA of Electrolux products and technologies. I also manage ISO accreditation and written LCA procedures to strengthen marketing claims and brand reputation. The LCA is well established within the company, with continued effort to further broaden its scope and application. Indeed, LCA has been used for years for identifying the main environmental hot spots of Electrolux products, and for guiding eco-design approaches, and to strengthen marketing claims and brand reputation. Currently, I’m working to use LCA for corporate footprint and to provide insights in understanding Scope 3 GHG emissions, and to define LCA based metrics”.

What inspired you to bring a life cycle perspective into your work?

“Electrolux Group is an industry leader in sustainability. Therefore, bringing a life cycle perspective into a global organization like Electrolux is inspired by a desire to provide science-based data taking into account a complex supply chain. The life cycle perspective helps us to identify the main hotspots, to drive eco-design improvements, and to provide credible sustainability claims – while encouraging consumers to use our appliances more responsibly”.

What kind of impact do you hope your work will have?

“As the appliance industry faces new environmental regulations, e.g., the Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulation (ESPR) in EU, LCA is becoming important for obtaining accurate data and evidence, and for enhancing our competitive edge”.

And finally, why do you think a life cycle perspective matters today?

“The urgency of sustainability concerns has increased over the years (e.g., water footprint, biodiversity lost), therefore a better understanding of the complex causes of these problems will require a life cycle perspective”.
