Reflections and results from the Stage 10 self-assessment report
Looking back on the operational period 2022–2024, the Swedish Life Cycle Center reflects on key activities, collaborations, and lessons learned that have contributed to the work in advancing the life cycle field. The recently completed Stage 10 self-assessment report documents efforts and insights that continue to guide the Center’s ongoing research and practice.
One of the milestones during this stage was hosting the SETAC Europe 26th LCA Symposium in Gothenburg, a record-breaking event that brought together 520 participants from 39 countries and featured over 400 presentations. Under the theme “Making LCA Meaningful: Good Data, Better Models, Sustainable Decisions”, it became the largest SETAC LCA symposium to date.
Meanwhile, the project Innovation Cluster for the Life Cycle Perspective, funded by the Swedish Energy Agency and partners, coordinated a broad range of activities and enabled the development of several practical resources. These include a webinar series for municipalities on applying life cycle perspectives, the Life Cycle Talks series for sharing new research, and new training materials for e-learning.
Throughout the stage, the Center engaged 19 partners spanning universities, research institutes, industry, and government agencies, while maintaining dialogue with 13 national government agencies and eight small and medium-sized companies. Activities also included six working groups and one expert group, 50 events, and 16 coordinated research applications.
