Swedish Life Cycle Center joined LCM 2025 in Palermo, Italy, on 9–12 September, one of the world’s leading forums for advancing sustainability through life cycle approaches. With this year’s theme, “Global to Local”, the conference explored how to turn life cycle thinking into practical solutions across industry, policy and research.

For Swedish Life Cycle Center, the event provided an important forum for knowledge exchange, bringing inspiring discussions and forward-looking perspectives from across the life cycle community.

“LCM 2025 in Palermo offered a valuable space for both familiar and new discussions and for exploring emerging tools in life cycle assessment. The strong Swedish presence was a proud reminder of the strong commitment to life cycle management among the Swedish Life Cycle Center network,” says Maria Rydberg, Director of Swedish Life Cycle Center.

Among the Center’s contributions, project manager Anna Wikström chaired the session LCM’s Future: Collaboration, Innovation & Impact.

“LCM is a fantastic event that brings together the life cycle community from around the world in one place for a few action-packed days. I’ve made many new connections and also met many familiar faces from our network and I’m bringing home many new ideas and inspiration,” says Anna Wikström.

Project manager Yulia Liu also represented the Center, with the presentation Electricity and the Chain of Custody.

“Tomas Ekvall and I presented a poster and a short talk on electricity and chain-of-custody approaches, based on work carried out together with our project partners in Consistent LCA Standards. The poster drew a lot of interest, and we had many interesting discussions during the poster session. These exchanges are valuable for continuing our work within the project and for further developing consistent methods for life cycle assessment,” says Yulia Liu.

Beyond the Center’s own contributions, many members of the Swedish Life Cycle Center network played active roles in the program. Presentations covered topics ranging from CO₂ traceability and textile circularity to second-life batteries and sustainable aviation, with network partners also chairing sessions on circular plastics and energy decision-making.

“It was great to see that the center’s partners were well represented in many sessions during the conference, giving high quality presentations and setting the agenda as session chairs,” says Maria Rydberg.
