Swedish Life Cycle Center receives renewed support to advance the life cycle perspective
With renewed funding from the Swedish Energy Agency, the innovation cluster for the life cycle perspective continue into a new phase during 2025–2027. This new phase builds on the success and collaboration of the previous cluster and aims to further accelerate the transition toward a sustainable and robust energy system, while strengthening Sweden’s position in the life cycle field.
“The funding from the Swedish Energy Agency is incredibly important to maintain the momentum built during the previous project in spreading the life cycle perspective to more organizations, and to offer more competence-building and networking activities. The initiative is also important for enabling more research in the life cycle field,” says Anna Wikström, Project Manager at Swedish Life Cycle Center.
The innovation cluster focuses on knowledge transfer, skill development, and collaboration. By bringing together Swedish industry, academia, government agencies, SMEs, and research institutes, the project supports the energy and climate transition in industry through increased understanding and practical application of the life cycle perspective.
“Broad and credible application of the life cycle perspective is crucial for driving sustainable change across sectors and society. This project supports the life cycle perspective by fostering partnerships and building competence, taking concrete actions and contributing to innovations in the energy and climate field,” says Susan Iliefski-Janols, Vice President Sustainability Products & Services at Essity and Chair of the Board of Swedish Life Cycle Center.
Through seminars, workshops, and the initiation of new projects, the cluster will disseminate knowledge and develop methods and tools to support sustainable innovation. The goal is to advance the life cycle perspective across sectors and contribute to achieving national energy and climate goals and actions.
This new phase will include targeted activities aimed at engaging new audiences, such as additional industrial companies, sectors, and academic institutions.
The innovation cluster for the life cycle perspective started on June 1, 2025 and runs until 31 December, 2027.
