Meet our new project manager – Sofia Jonson Veloso
We are excited to introduce Sofia Jonson Veloso, who has just joined us as project manager at Swedish Life Cycle Center! We asked three short questions to learn more about Sofia’s background and what she look forward to in this new role.
Welcome to the center Sofia! What is your background?
I have a background in international climate projects, corporate sustainability, and corporate climate finance, supported by a master’s degree in Ecotechnology and Environmental Science. Most recently, I worked in market and policy analysis, focusing on international climate policy, standardization, and market guidance. In this role, I collaborated closely with industry partners to advance best-practice guidance and strengthen environmental integrity across the market.
What are your expectations on your new role as a project manager?
I hope to apply my experience in network-building and capacity development to support the work of the Swedish Life Cycle Center. I look forward to supporting cross-sector collaboration that advances the life cycle perspective in both research and application.
In your opinion, what are the greatest benefits of having a life cycle perspective?
In my experience, a major challenge for sustainable development is ensuring the implementation of comprehensive and holistic solutions. Often, we focus on specific issues or components, while in reality, sustainability is a complex field where multiple issues are intrinsically linked. The life cycle perspective helps us move toward more integrated solutions by broadening our lens and identifying the wider impacts of our activities.
We warmly welcome Sofia to the Technical Secretariat!
