Welcome to Life Cycle Talks! A series of talks presenting the research front to keep you up to date with the science and application of the life cycle perspective. Our next guest is Erik Klint, Senior Researcher at Norsus, Norwegian Institute for Sustainability Research. Erik will talk about trying to combine psychological assessments with LCA methodology, and the lessons he got from this work.

“The function of consumption and consumables cannot be understood solely from a technical perspective. By highlighting conflicting psychological goals, we as LCA practitioners will become better at understanding the social system we all are part of. This is crucial knowledge for policy suggestions stemming from LCA results”. Says Erik Klint.

Presenter

Erik Klint is a researcher whose work focuses on applying LCA methodology in more strategic and social contexts. In his presentation, he will focus on how psychological barriers and motivations can shape consumer behavior with respect to laundry and textile consumption. His main message is that much of our consumption do not happen in isolation. This needs to be reflected in the functional unit, to keep LCA results relevant for policymakers.
