AI meets LCA: applications and ethical aspects
Place: Online on Teams
For whom: Partners in Swedish Life Cycle Center and government agencies and SMEs in collaboration with the center.
Welcome to our next strategic business intelligence meeting. Our strategic business intelligence meetings bring together key stakeholders to explore emerging trends, monitor developments, and share insights relating to the life cycle perspective. The purpose of these meetings is to advance life cycle thinking and support researchers and practitioners in the field through information sharing and enhanced collaboration.
Our next guest is Pietro Bartocci, researcher at RISE Processum AB. Pietro will talk about applications and ethical risks in using AI for Life Cycle Assessment. Particular attention will be focused on new applications using Generative AI.
Presenter
Dr. Pietro Bartocci is project manager in RISE Processum working on sustainability of Biorefineries. He is chief editor of the golden access journal Energy NEXUS published by Elsevier. Collaborates in Task 42 of IEA Bioenergy on Biorefining in a Circular Economy. Collaborates with UNEP Life Cycle Inititative in the work on analyzing applications and ethical risks on the use of AI in LCA, together with companies like Amazon, Pre Consultant (now One Click LCA), universities like Cambridge, Harvard, ETH and research centers like CIRAIG, Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) and KIT. The presentation will be a summary of the work done by the work group which will be soon published in a paper and will be the foundation to organize a UNEP report.
This meeting is arranged within the project Innovation cluster for the life cycle perspective, funded by the Swedish Energy Agency and partners in Swedish Life Cycle Center. The meeting is organized by the working group LCA Data & Methodology.
