Webinar: Improved communication of LCA results

Date:Thursday, 05 March, 2020 Time:13:00 - 14:00

How are LCA results presently communicated, and what are the preferences of different stakeholder groups? Frida Røyne, researcher at RISE, will present findings from a recent study conducted together with IVL.

This webinar is for all those having an interest in improving LCA communication practice, such as LCA practitioners and communicators, and those having an interest in better understanding LCA results, such as LCA commissioners.

Communication is key to better use of LCA results in decision making. Researchers, practitioners, and their targeted audiences have divergent needs and knowledge for using and communicating the information provided from LCAs. Still, only a small share of research efforts has been made to explore the state and quality of such communication efforts. It is thus time to pay attention to the improvement potential of LCA result communication.

During this webinar, Frida Røyne will present examples on how LCA results are currently communicated, and how that corresponds to the expectations and preferences of different stakeholders. What should be emphasized? What should be avoided? LCAs on biobased products receive a special focus, as there are several dimensions that make the communications of such studies specifically challenging.

About the speaker

Frida Røyne is a researcher at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. Her research focuses on how environmental assessments and the life cycle perspective can contribute to a sustainable road forward, by identifying opportunities, obstacles and action points. She is working with evaluating circular economy models, with not only the question in mind “is it better to reuse than to produce new items?” but also “which circumstances and behavior patterns enhance the environmental benefit of the reuse model?”. Frida is passionate about the communication aspect of environmental assessment; how we should interpret and disseminate our results for appropriate and efficient decision making.

This webinar is arranged by Swedish Life Cycle Center and through the project Swedish platform for the life cycle perspective (funded by the Swedish Energy Agency).
